Northview Academy is 1-9 against Carter since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cougars will square off against the Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Northview Academy has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Northview Academy managed to slip by Seymour the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cougars lost 13-6 to the Eagles on Monday.
Abigail Doty was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Taylor Ferguson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Carter owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance last Friday. Everything went their way against Knoxville Central as they made off with a 6-0 victory. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.
Not much got past Taylor Armstrong, who gave up just 11 hits to keep Knoxville Central off the board. Armstrong has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Addy Freeman was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Hayden Neely, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Carter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Carter has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Northview Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northview Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Carter struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northview Academy suffered a grim 15-7 defeat to Carter in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
