The Rocklin Thunder will take on the St. Francis Troubadours at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Rocklin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Rocklin's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Granite Bay with a sharp 10-0 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Thunder needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Not much got past Payton Prior, who gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Granite Bay off the board. Prior has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rocklin let Addie Titlow and Katie Wetteland run wild. Titlow went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Wetteland got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Titlow a new career-high. Cat Alston was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Rocklin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Granite Bay only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for St. Francis' offense. They came up short against Oak Ridge on Friday, falling 6-0. The Troubadours just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.
Rocklin's victory bumped their record up to 16-5. As for St. Francis, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-19.
St. Francis' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rocklin has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. It's a different story for St. Francis, though, as they've been averaging 10.3 hits. Given Rocklin's sizable advantage in that area, the Troubadours will need to find a way to close that gap.
Rocklin was able to grind out a solid win over St. Francis in their previous meeting back in April, winning 6-1. Will the Thunder repeat their success, or do the Troubadours have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
