Jones County has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Houston County Bears on Friday. Jones County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully Houston County likes a good challenge.
Even though Luella scored an imposing 68 points on Thursday, Jones County still came out on top. Jones County walked away with a 75-68 win over Luella. Given Jones County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Luella is ranked 326th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Kaden Douglas, who scored 15 points. Tyler Wold was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Houston County ended up a good deal behind Williston on Thursday and lost 63-45. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Houston County has scored all season.
Jones County's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.2 points per game. As for Houston County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.
Jones County came up short against Houston County when the teams last played on December 1st, falling 66-54. Can Jones County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
