AAAA Region VIII recap October 1, 2013
Fort Dorchester was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Wando. The Patriots came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 32 last week.
Beaufort added to the longest winning streak in AAAA Region VIII this week by beating Carolina Forest, 49-35. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Eagles.
Fort Dorchester's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kobe Garrett threw for 45 yards and Corey Rawlings had 25 yards receiving. On the ground Nahshon Cyrus chipped in 91 yards.
Steve Laprad's team's dynamic duo of Garrett and Rawlings proved tough for the Warriors to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Cyrus provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Patriots beat Wando.
5-foot-11 quarterback Alex Davis of Bluffton is the league leader in passing yards this season with 615. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Rashad Palmer. The Fort Dorchester star has 7 catches for 145 yards.
Beaufort led the league in scoring this week by notching 49 points on the Panthers.
