Softball Recap: Danbury Has No Trouble Against Staples

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Danbury and Staples, and Danbury kept the tradition alive. The Hatters put the hurt on the Wreckers with a sharp 15-1 victory on Saturday. The Hatters might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

Jacqueline Marks made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Danbury got a massive performance out of Sophie O'Connell, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Analia Duran was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Danbury kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Danbury's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Staples, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Danbury didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-1 defeat against St. Joseph on the 19th. Staples does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
