The Phoenix Country Day Eagles will face off against the Tempe Prep Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Phoenix Country Day will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Phoenix Country Day is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Scottsdale Preparatory Academy get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Saturday. Considering the Eagles have won six games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Kailer Smith made a splash no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Reed Ross was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Phoenix Country Day: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ronnie Ross, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Phoenix Country Day was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They are 6-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, while it was Tempe Prep who put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, it was Heritage Academy who put up more. The Knights fell 9-6 to the Heroes. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Heroes: they've now lost four in a row.
Josh Norton, Jr. was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Gastelum, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Tempe Prep's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Phoenix Country Day, their win bumped their record up to 9-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Phoenix Country Day has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tempe Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Phoenix Country Day couldn't quite get it done against Tempe Prep when the teams last played back in March as they fell 12-8. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
