After two games on the road, Independence is heading back home. They and the Summit Spartans will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Tennessee (Independence is ranked 213th, while Summit is ranked 211th).
Last Wednesday, Independence was able to grind out a solid win over Summit, taking the game 45-37.
Independence's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaliyah Fleming, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Evy Nichols was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Independence pushed their record up to 9-13 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Summit, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.
Independence beat Summit 45-37 in their previous meeting on Wednesday. Will Independence repeat their success, or does Summit have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
