The Mt. Hope Huskies suffered their biggest loss since December 14, 2023 on Monday. They were beaten by Somerset Berkley Regional 77-45. While losing is never fun, Mt. Hope can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 41st in Rhode Island, while Somerset Berkley Regional is ranked seventh in Massachusetts).
It was another big night for Finnian Bjork, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds for Somerset Berkley Regional. Bjork has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Colten Pacheco, who scored 14 points.
Mt. Hope's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Somerset Berkley Regional, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Hope won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hope at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Hope has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 2. As for Somerset Berkley Regional, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Greater New Bedford RVT at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. Greater New Bedford RVT is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
