The Canton Warriors will take on the Millville Quakers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Canton turned things around against Sullivan County on Thursday. They came out on top against the Griffins by a score of 12-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). With that win, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Reed Taylor and Michael Beers were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Taylor tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Beers pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Taylor went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Beers got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bailey Gardner, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (four). Carson Castle was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, Millville came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Redskins 14-1. Considering the Quakers have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Canton, Millville also got a great game from a two-way player: Curtis Whitmoyer. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Whitmoyer was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run.
In other batting news, Shane Johnson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Dylan Brokenshire, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Millville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 8.8.
Millville pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Canton, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Canton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Millville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
