Vernon lost to Ponce De Leon back in February, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Vernon Yellowjackets walked away with a 16-12 win over the Ponce De Leon Pirates. With that victory, the Yellowjackets brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Brandon Small and Kaden Morris did most of the damage at the plate: Small scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Morris scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Morris a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Caiden Coltrane, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Vernon's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-11. As for Ponce De Leon, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Vernon will venture away from home to square off against Munroe at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vernon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Ponce De Leon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Malone at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th.
