West Platte suffered a grim 21-43 defeat to Lawson last Friday. West Platte got a solid performance out of senior Gavin Davis, who rushed for 85 yards and 2 touchdowns; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win. In fact, with 12 tackles Davis was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, East Buchanan had a bit more than a touchdown to spare in a 34-22 victory over Penney.
East Buchanan's win lifted them to 3-0 while West Platte's loss dropped them down to 1-2. In their victory, East Buchanan relied heavily on junior Owen Fortney, who caught passes for 82 yards and 2 touchdowns; a key strategy for West Platte will lie in finding a way to minimize his impact.
