Softball Recap: Tuckerman Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Tuckerman waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Walnut Ridge Bobcats. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 10-6 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Maegan Richardson made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Emma Davis tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Maddyx Soden, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ally Sampson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Tuckerman hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Walnut Ridge struck out nine times.

Tuckerman's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Walnut Ridge, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tuckerman will head out to face off against Sloan-Hendrix at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Walnut Ridge, they will venture away from home to square off against Manila at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bobcats are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
