Baseball Recap: Alameda Starts Season with Victory Against Denver West

Alameda gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Denver West Cowboys with a sharp 22-2 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Pirates, who have now won five matchups in a row dating back to last season.

Hudson Judy made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Alameda got a massive performance out of Cesar H, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave H a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alan Chairez, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Alameda always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .818. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Denver West only posted an OBP of .286.

Denver West is on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Alameda will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Denver South at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Denver West, they will welcome Jefferson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
