They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Mountain View Eagles 3-2. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 3-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Lackawanna Trail had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 17-25, 18-25, 25-17, 25-23, 15-13.
Cheyanne Zona paced Lackawanna Trail's offense, picking up five kills. Zona got some help from Ava Drake and her eight assists. Emily Kimmel controlled things from the service line, finishing with 12 aces.
Mountain View's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aubrey Sanders, who had five kills, five digs, and three aces. Sanders has been hot, having also posted 12 or more assists the last six times she's played. Addison Kilmer was another key player, getting ten kills, five digs, three blocks, and three aces.
