McCollum has gone a perfect 4-0 against Edison recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Cowboys will host the Golden Bears at 5:00 p.m. McCollum is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
On Saturday, McCollum needed a bit of extra time to put away Southwest. They skirted past the Dragons 3-2.
RUIZ MADELYNN spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on SORAYA TORRES, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was MARTINEZ LAUREN, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Edison came into Thursday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against Jefferson on Thursday as they made off with a 15-2 victory. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Golden Bears this season.
Serenity Lizcano made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. Those RBI were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Aaliyah Rodriguez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelina Araujo, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
McCollum pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Edison, their win bumped their record up to 3-13-1.
McCollum beat Edison 10-6 in their previous meeting back in April of 2016. Will the Cowboys repeat their success, or do the Golden Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
