Milan Love threw two touchdowns and ran for two more as
Springfield (La.) beat
Pope John Paul II (Slidell, La.) 28-9 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a Love touchdown pass to
Chuckie Vickes in the second quarter, the Bulldogs led 14-0 at the half.
Springfield expanded its lead to 47 points entering the fourth quarter. SHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Love touchdown run.
Pope John Paul II's only touchdown came on a 4-yard run in the third quarter.
The Bulldogs came in allowing an average of 25.0 points per game this season.
Springfield also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 34-24.
The win was a nice bounce back for SHS, which lost to Pine last week, 26-12. The loss comes after Pope John Paul II defeated Mt. Hermon 43-0 last week. The loss ended Pope John Paul II's three-game winning streak. The victory snapped Springfield's two-game losing streak.
