Calallen is a perfect 7-0 against Zapata since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wildcats will host the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Calallen is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
Calallen's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 26-0 margin over King. Considering the Wildcats have won 15 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Chase Lynch made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Lucas Saenz looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Sebastian Dennis was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.
Calallen hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive contests.
Robstown hit Zapata with a four-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hawks fell just short of the Cottonpickers by a score of 5-4. The loss continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Cottonpickers: they've now lost four in a row.
Mario Garcia and Jay Solis stepped up to the plate in a big way. Garcia went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, while Solis went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Diego Villarreal, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Calallen's victory bumped their record up to 25-1. As for Zapata, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Calallen has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Zapata struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Calallen took their win against Zapata when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
