Westbrook and Fryeburg are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Westbrook Blue Blazes will be playing at home against the Fryeburg Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses for Westbrook and three for Fryeburg.
Last Friday, Westbrook came up short against Mt. Ararat and fell 57-44. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Westbrook in their matchups with Mt. Ararat: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite their defeat, Westbrook saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kylie Young, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Young hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Hattie Clark was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Fryeburg suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. Their tough 61-39 defeat to Mt. Ararat might stick with them for a while.
Westbrook's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Fryeburg, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6.
Everything went Westbrook's way against Fryeburg in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as Westbrook made off with a 59-39 win. Does Westbrook have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fryeburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
