ABILENE, Texas - After five lead changes,
Midway (Waco, Texas) took the lead for good when it threw a touchdown with under a minute left in the fourth quarter and held on to upset
Abilene (Texas) 34-31 on Saturday.
By the end of the third, the Panthers found themselves trailing by 7 points as the Eagles captured the lead thanks to two scores in the quarter. Abilene scored on a field goal by
Matt Loftin and a touchdown run by
Marcell Porter in the quarter.
Porter played well for AHS. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns and caught one touchdown. He has now scored 17 touchdowns on the season.
The Eagles came in allowing just 13.8 points per game this season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Abilene, which notched a 53-34 victory over Lamar in its previous outing.
