The Columbus East Olympians will face off against the Greenfield-Central Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Columbus East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
While Columbus East didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 15-8 margin over Hauser on Monday. The Olympians haven't had any issues with the Jets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Jacque Boroughs made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Boroughs was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natasha Armstrong, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Thaise Jessup was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
Columbus East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hauser only posted a batting average of .323.
Meanwhile, Greenfield-Central sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Westfield on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.
Ailea Dowdy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.
At the plate, Greenfield-Central saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Savvanna Riall, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Kristen Wineinger, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Columbus East's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Greenfield-Central, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Greenfield-Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Columbus East has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Greenfield-Central, though, as they've been averaging 11.8 hits. Given Columbus East's sizable advantage in that area, the Cougars will need to find a way to close that gap.
