In what's become a running theme this season, The Master's Academy Lions gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They breezed by Lake Lure Classical Academy on the road to the tune of 56-17. With The Master's Academy ahead 37-5 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
It was another big night for Faith Yelton, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sydney Bell, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and five steals.
When it comes to explaining why Lake Lure Classical Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jeska Gobin. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Smith, who scored no points along with five steals.
The Master's Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Master's Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Community Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Community Christian Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Lake Lure Classical Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bethel Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on February 5th.
