The Huntingtown Hurricanes entered their tilt with the Patuxent Panthers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Huntingtown took down Patuxent 48-32 on Wednesday. Given Huntingtown's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Patuxent is ranked 236th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kelsie Bartlett was a one-man wrecking crew for Huntingtown as she scored ten points along with three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bartlett has scored all season. Eva Powell was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three blocks.
Despite the loss, Patuxent still got an impressive performance from Ailish Fockler, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Fockler has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.
Huntingtown's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Patuxent, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Huntingtown will take on McDonough at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Patuxent, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Leonardtown at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Leonardtown will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
