Paris has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Bluegrass United Bluehawks in a holiday battle at 12:00 p.m. on Monday at. Paris will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 257th, while Bluegrass United is ranked 40th).
Paris' 21-9 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were beaten by Nicholas County 67-34 on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Paris has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Bluegrass United came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points) and they left with even more momentum. They really took it to Louisville Saints HomeSchool for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-15 victory at home. Bluegrass United might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won six contests by 25 points or more this season.
Bluegrass United's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Piper Graham led the charge by scoring 11 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Graham has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Grace Hanlon, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Paris bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Bluegrass United, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
