The William Floyd Colonials have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season. They took their game at home on Thursday with ease, bagging a 58-23 victory over Riverhead. With that victory, William Floyd brought their scoring average up to 50.8 points per game.
It was another big night for Jacqueline Sutherland, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten steals. She set a new season high mark in assists with six. Another player making a difference was Kayden Meyer, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
William Floyd's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Riverhead, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. William Floyd will square off against Central Islip at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Islip and William Floyd are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. Riverhead will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Walt Whitman at 6:00 p.m. on January 17, 2024.
