Mill Springs Academy waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Cottage 36-33. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Mill Springs Academy has scored all year.
Cottage lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jackson Barnes, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Barnes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Maxwell Lagan was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Mill Springs Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. As for Cottage, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mill Springs Academy will take on Tapestry Charter at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Kingston Willingham and Hampton Hill. Cottage won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Varsity Opponent at 4:30 p.m. on January 20th. Varsity Opponent has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 18.
