The Calvert Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the Leonardtown Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Calvert has struggled recently with 13 losses in a row, while Leonardtown will arrive with three straight victories.
Last Friday, Calvert took a serious blow against Chopticon, falling 66-33. While losing is never fun, Calvert can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 278th, while Chopticon is ranked 89th).
Meanwhile, even though Arundel scored an imposing 60 points on Monday, Leonardtown still came out on top. Leonardtown came out on top in a nail-biter against Arundel and snuck past 62-60.
Calvert dropped their record down to 2-19 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Leonardtown, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Calvert was dealt a bruising 70-25 defeat at the hands of Leonardtown in their previous meeting back in January. Can Calvert avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
