The Smethport Hubbers lost against the Port Allegany Gators back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Smethport took a 51-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Port Allegany. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Smethport in their matchups with Port Allegany: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the defeat, Smethport saw an underclassman step up: Cole Burdick scored 17 points. Burdick continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Dunn , who scored nine points.
Smethport's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Port Allegany, their win bumped their record up to an identical 1-4.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Northern Potter the next time they take the court. Smethport will head out to face Northern Potter at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Port Allegany will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th.
