The Beech Grove Hornets scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They secured a 68-64 W over Monrovia. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Beech Grove was led to victory by Jarron Murry jr. and Simeon Mcintosh. Murry jr. scored 20 points along with six assists and three steals, while Mcintosh scored 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Tyris Reid, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Monrovia lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tucker Rahn, who scored 17 points along with five assists. The game was Rahn's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Jayden Jones was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with seven assists.
Monrovia struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Beech Grove's victory bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Monrovia, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beech Grove will challenge Park Tudor at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Park Tudor knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matchups -- so hopefully Beech Grove likes a good challenge. As for Monrovia, they will head out on the road to face off against North Putnam at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
