If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Mount Vernon. On Friday they take on Jackson at Everett Memorial Stadium at 8:00 PM. Mount Vernon don't have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings.
Everything went Mount Vernon's way against Mariner last Friday as they made off with a 42-14 win. Senior Seth Tercero, who rushed for 117 yards and 4 touchdowns, was a major factor in Mount Vernon's success. Tercero has been a consistent playmaker for Mount Vernon as this was the 6th good game in a row from him.
Meanwhile, there's no need to mince words: Jackson lost to Monroe, and they lost bad. The score wound up at 14-56. Jackson were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 7-49.
Mount Vernon's victory lifted them to 5-1 while Jackson's defeat dropped them down to 3-3. We'll find out if Mount Vernon can add another positive mark to their record or if Jackson can shake off the defeat and take the spring out of Mount Vernon's step.
