With a playoff game on the line, the Velma-Alma Comets rose to the challenge on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 56-40 win over Garber. The win was familiar territory for Velma-Alma who now have seven in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Garber lost, one person who can't be blamed is Carson Bishop. Despite the final result, he rushed for 158 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Domingo Ramirez, who rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns.
Velma-Alma's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Garber, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
Velma-Alma will square off against Drumright at TBD on Friday. Drumright has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 682 points over their last 12 games. Garber does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
