Natchez scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Meridian, 54-41. At the time, the Wildcats was ranked seventh in the state, while the Bulldogs was 67th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Natchez, who took down seventh ranked Meridian, 54-41. Derrian Johnson threw for 25 yards and one touchdown, ran for 164 yards and caught five passes for 111 yards in the win.
Petal's dynamic duo of Larson Barkurn and Jamarcus Revies proved tough for Hattiesburg to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Barkurn threw for 263 yards and four touchdowns and Revies had 119 yards receiving. Jesse Jackson helped Petal's passing attack out by catching two balls for 90 yards.
Jarius Moore provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Terry lost to Brandon. He completed 13 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 182 yards. Moore's favorite target this week was Titus Ivory, who caught four passes for 77 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Gardner Minshew of the Bulldogs is the league leader in passing yards this season with 769. He has also thrown nine touchdowns. On the ground, the Bulldogs' Moore has rushed for 750 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Revies. The Petal star has 26 catches for 424 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Larry Weems's team and the Tigers. The Wildcats comes into the matchup ranked 17th in the state, while Hattiesburg ranks ninth.
Barkurn and Jackson provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Danny Nowell's team. The longest such play in the league this season, the connection resulted in 75 yards.
