The Broadwater Academy Vikings will challenge the StoneBridge Cavaliers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Broadwater Academy has six straight victories, StoneBridge has 15 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
StoneBridge's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Broadwater Academy hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Vikings' pitcher stepped up to hand Isle of Wight Academy a 7-0 shutout on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Ramsey Revelle's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Kacey Ford was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Ava Webb, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Ford wasn't the only one making solid contact: Broadwater Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, StoneBridge fell victim to Peninsula Catholic and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 16-0.
Broadwater Academy pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for StoneBridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
StoneBridge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Broadwater Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .512. It's a different story for StoneBridge, though, as they've only averaged .298. Will they be able to contain Broadwater Academy's hitters?
Broadwater Academy took their win against StoneBridge when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 25-0 score. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Cavaliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
