Basketball Game Preview: Caston Comets vs. Culver Community Cavaliers

Caston is 7-2 against Culver Community since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Caston Comets are taking a road trip to challenge the Culver Community Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. Caston is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.7 points per game this season.

Caston is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against North Miami two weeks ago. Caston walked away with a 70-62 victory over North Miami. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Comets as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Gavin Mollenkopf was nothing short of spectacular: he posted 22 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Those 22 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lane Hook, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 14 points.

Meanwhile, Culver Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 53-15 defeat at the hands of South Central. The Cavaliers were down 45-11 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Caston will have to keep a close watch on Braylon Jackson and Jonas McCuen, a pair of players who had a big impact on Culver Community's prior game. Jackson put up five points, while McCuen had five points.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-5. As for Culver Community, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Caston strolled past Culver Community in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 76-62. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Culver Community's Jack Rodgers, who posted 25 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
