Football Recap: Race Deshotel Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat West Brook

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Barbers Hill, Beaumont United was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 35-28 win over the West Brook Bruins. For the Timberwolves, this counts as revenge for the 48-7 victory the Bruins walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Beaumont United's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Race Deshotel, who threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns while completing 91.7% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Deshotel's passing game has become a key predictor of the Timberwolves' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. Da'Shawn Moore helped Deshotel out on the ground, picking up 56 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, while also rushing for 98 yards.

Beaumont United's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Christerpher Norman, Kaysen Donatta, and Ontario Williams, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Beaumont United pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.7 points on average over those games. As for West Brook, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.
