The Myers Park Mustangs put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 47-29 win over Hough. Given Myers Park's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Hough is ranked 174th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Myers Park's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chayla McDaniel, who scored ten points along with six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Amani Barner, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Several Huskies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sophia Zoerb, who scored eight points. Kate Breault was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds.
Hough struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Myers Park racked up 13 assists.
Myers Park pushed their record up to 12-0 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Hough, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Myers Park will take on Ardrey Kell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Ardrey Kell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Friday. As for Hough, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against West Charlotte at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully West Charlotte focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Friday.
