The New Iberia Yellowjackets waltzed into Friday's contest with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Northside by a score of 38-28. Given New Iberia's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Northside is ranked 158th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Iberia can attribute much of their success to Wayne Randall-bashay, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Randall-bashay has scored at least 25% of New Iberia's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Otis Anderson, who scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
New Iberia's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Northside, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
New Iberia will head out on the road to face off against Lake Charles College Prep at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Charles College Prep is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Northside, they will be playing at home against Breaux Bridge on Wednesday.
