Maddie Campbell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Kelsey Park was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 12 games. Another player making a difference was Lexi Elza, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
University always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buckhannon-Upshur only posted an OBP of .379.
Preston's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for University, their win bumped their record up to 14-3-1.
