The East St. Louis Flyers waltzed into their match on Friday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They took down Alton 79-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
East St. Louis' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Robert McCline, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Montreal Stacker, who scored 16 points along with eight assists.
East St. Louis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Alton, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-9.
East St. Louis won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Christian Brothers at 2:00 p.m. on January 27th. One thing working in Christian Brothers' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests. As for Alton, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against O'Fallon at 7:30 p.m.
