Mullins is 10-0 against the Blazers since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Mullins Auctioneers will head out on the road to take on the Kingstree Blazers at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mullins has three straight victories, the Blazers have three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, Mullins beat the Yellowjackets 53-41.
Mullins' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JJ Davis, who scored 20 points along with four steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Davis posted two or more blocks. Ernest Ford was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
While Kingstree couldn't quite beat the Yellowjackets on Friday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 28-point loss they were dealt on Tuesday. Kingstree fell just short of the Yellowjackets by a score of 53-51.
Mullins' win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.9 points per game. As for Kingstree, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season.
Mullins was able to grind out a solid win over the Blazers when the teams last played back in January, winning 82-70. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mullins since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
