Basketball Recap: Parkway Northwest's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

It was a good run, but Parkway Northwest unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak dating back to last season on Thursday. They fell 66-59 to KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (57), the Hoyas still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Parkway Northwest still got an impressive performance from Kahleem Jordan, who posted 31 points. That was a full 52.5% of Parkway Northwest's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaicir Isaac, who earned 17 points.

KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mekhi Anderson led the charge by shooting 4-for-7 from long range and dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Anderson also posted five blocks, which is notable because KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy is 3-1 when he posts at least five blocks, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Sayid Cooley, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Parkway Northwest fell to 6-1. As for KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.

Parkway Northwest will venture away from home to challenge Franklin Learning Center at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Parkway Northwest has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 173 points over their last three matchups. As for KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy, they will host Philadelphia Military Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season.
