A Region IV recap Sept. 26, 2012
Blackville-Hilda was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fourth in A Region IV. The Fighting Hawks defeated North 39-16 earlier in the week.
Williston-Elko took down Wagener-Salley 54-19 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Eagles' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Darrien Wise threw for three yards and Siron Mack had three yards receiving. On the ground Da'Quan Jones chipped in 91 yards.
Wagener-Salley's offense has been unstoppable this season and the War Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Malcolm Stroman has thrown for 252 yards and two touchdowns this season, while R. J. Tyler has seven catches for 153 yards. Trey Davis leads the league in rushing with 461 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the War Eagles take on North. Wagener-Salley's offense has recorded 211 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Paul Calvert's team has permitted only 178 on the year.
A big matchup in A Region IV this week will be when Hunter-Kinard-Tyler takes on Blackville-Hilda. At the moment, the Trojans are in third, while David Berry's team is in fourth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Hunter-Kinard-Tyler takes on the Fighting Hawks. Dann Holland's team has allowed 83 points this season, while Blackville-Hilda has given up 95.
There should be lots of points scored when the Eagles and Kenneth Tucker's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, North comes in having scored 65 this season, while the War Eagles have scored 211. The Eagles scored 16 points last week as they lost to the Fighting Hawks.
Blackville-Hilda made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,675 from 10,000. The improvement was the result of 39-16 victory over North last week.
