For the first time this season, Blind Brook will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to face off against the Tuckahoe Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Westlake hit Blind Brook with a four-run first inning last Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Trojans came up short against the Wildcats, falling 11-1. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Tuckahoe made sure to put some runs up on the board against Dobbs Ferry on Monday. The Tigers blew past the Eagles 11-4.
Jack Rideout made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Tuckahoe's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Rideout was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jay Romeo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Luca Delconte, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Tuckahoe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Tuckahoe's record is now 4-2. As for Blind Brook, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Blind Brook has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tuckahoe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Blind Brook took their win against Tuckahoe in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 14-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
