The Glendale Nitros will square off against the Lynwood Knights at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Glendale took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Van Nuys as they made off with a 16-6 win. The Nitros might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.
Brooke Aldrete was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off two hits. Aldrete was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Glendale got a big performance out of Andrea Guido, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Sevanah Argueta was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Glendale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .548 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Lynwood never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Hawthorne Math & Science Academy on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 22-3 margin over the Aviators. The Knights not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1, 2025 (when they won 20-0).
Glendale's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Lynwood, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Everything went Glendale's way against Lynwood when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Glendale made off with a 13-2 win. Will the Nitros repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
