The assist on Katherine's 1,000th career point enabled Caroline to break a 20-year-old Virginia Class AAA record with 532 career assists. Caroline previously had broken the Oakton school record, which was held by Jasmine Thomas, who now plays for the Washington Mystics of the WNBA.

Alford told the Albuquerque Journal, "It's the best part of basketball, late in the game. It's where the money is made. It's my favorite time."
