Baseball Recap: Fort Wayne Wayne Takes a Loss

Fort Wayne Wayne couldn't beat Lakewood Park Christian on Friday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Generals fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 10-9. The Generals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Gibson Mart made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Fort Wayne Wayne's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 1-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Richardson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Fort Wayne Wayne's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9. Those road losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Lakewood Park Christian, the victory was their first at home, bumping their record up to 2-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Fort Wayne Wayne will venture away from home to square off against Bellmont at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lakewood Park Christian, they will head out to take on Prairie Heights at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
