3A Region 6 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Forest extended the longest winning streak in 3A Region 6 this week by beating Jefferson County, 42-13. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
McLaurin moved up to 99 from 129 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers climbed the ranks as a result of besting Franklin County 35-21.
Luke Reynolds and Jaylon Lofton gave Forest a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Reynolds threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns, while Lofton ran for 132 yards. Teammate Chris Mazique added to the ground attack by rushing for 39 yards.
Marcel Williams was the best wideout in the league this week as McLaurin topped the Bulldogs. Williams tallied three receptions for 99 yards. Dalton Middleton helped McLaurin's passing attack out by catching two balls for 98 yards.
5-foot-6 quarterback Jymier Slocum of Morton is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1750. He has also thrown 17 touchdowns. On the ground, Marc Herrington's team's Eric McGee has rushed for 1431 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Tanner Menist. The St. Andrews Episcopal star has 60 catches for 815 yards.
The Tigers' Corderius Davis needs only 80 yards against West Marion next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 120 carries Davis has accumulated 920 yard this year.
Hamer Morgan's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on the Tigers. Reynolds ran for 18 yards in the win.
