The Iowa Colony Pioneers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 28-27 victory over Bay City. For Iowa Colony, this counts as revenge for the 28-27 defeat Bay City walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
Iowa Colony was led to victory by Carson White and Antoine Martin jr. White threw for 208 yards and three touchdowns, while Martin jr picked up 127 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Martin jr was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 67 yards. Haydon Caston got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Several Blackcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jada Andrews, who rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 52 receiving yards. Andrews is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Xylan Williams, who picked up 146 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Bay City's defense sure didn't make it easy: Iowa Colony's QB was sacked four times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Carlon Jones and Isaiah Gonzales who racked up four sacks between them.
Iowa Colony's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 10-0. As for Bay City, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-3.
Iowa Colony will take on Needville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bay City, they will head out on the road to face off against Stafford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Stafford focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up four on Friday.
