Libertyville's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They blew past the Zion-Benton Zee-Bees 16-0. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Chase Lockwood made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Quinn Schambow and Carson Holmes did most of the damage at the plate: Schambow went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles, while Holmes went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most doubles Schambow has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Steve Strelow, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Libertyville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Zion-Benton only posted an OBP of .000.

Libertyville pushed their record up to 23-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Zion-Benton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-18.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Libertyville will face off against Carmel at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Zion-Benton, they will square off against Harvard at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
