Basketball Recap: Southwest Virginia Academy Takes a Loss

Southwest Virginia Academy entered their match against Hargrave Military Academy on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Southwest Virginia Academy Conquerors were dealt a 91-44 defeat at the hands of the Hargrave Military Academy Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Conquerors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Tigers are ranked 108th).

Hargrave Military Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was William Mancine, who posted 29 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tim King, who earned 23 points.

Southwest Virginia Academy's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Hargrave Military Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 19-16.

Southwest Virginia Academy has already played their next contest, a 74-51 win against Shenandoah Valley HomeSchool on the 8th. As for Hargrave Military Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 72-71 victory against Virginia Episcopal School on the 10th.
