RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. -
Pioneer (Woodland, Calif.) and
Cordova (Rancho Cordova, Calif.) both had great defensive games, but Pioneer was able to break through the stalemate for a 14-13 win.
The Patriots scored on two rushing touchdowns to pull out the win.
The Lancers pulled ahead on a touchdown catch by
Zack Tapia, and subsequently went into halftime leading 13-0. Pioneer took the lead for good with a two-point conversion in the third quarter.
The defeat comes as a step back for Cordova, which notched a 50-6 victory over Johnson in its previous outing. With the win PHS extended its winning streak to three games.
